I wanted to put up a quick post because I want to remind everyone that even when you may not be putting words on paper (though that should be your first priority) you are likely still thinking about your book and your plot. Last night after a long day I sat down to read Holidays are Hell, a collection of stories by some awesome authors. While reading it not only did I zen the concept of character creation but also made a great leap in figuring out how my world works with magic. By reading someone else, and while I didn’t steal her ideas, it did make me think about my own stuff and answer some questions in my own head. It was awesome and it was one of those moments when your Muse sits in the background with a smirk and her arms crossed going “You thought I just gave you a lame ass title? Idiot…I DID have a reason!”
So don’t feel bad about needing to take a small break to recharge your own battery by reading. If you are like me you read what you like to write and I even watch shows like Supernatural or movies like The Invisible just to get me in the right head space for my world and characters.
