Writer, voice actress and podcaster, Kimi Alexandre has been on the Web since the mid-90s. Her award-nominated podcast Tale Chasing, a show for urban fantasy readers and writers, is now in its third year. Guardians, her novel about a body guard drawn into a murder mystery with supernatural elements, launched as a serialized podcast in 2009. She has also played numerous voice roles in other podcasts. In addition to her voice-over work for award-winning author Holly Lisle, she has had guest roles in podcasts such as The Metamor City Podcast, Predestination and Other Games of Chance, Angel Between the Lines, The Ties That Bind, Guild of the Cowry Catchers, Cybrosis, and Digital Magic.
Tale Chasing was a finalist for the 2008 Parsec Award for best writing-related podcast and both Guardians and Talechasing were nominated for the 2009 Parsecs. She’s interviewed NYTimes Bestselling Author, Scott Sigler as well as many others such as Jackie Kessler, Stacia Kane, Mark Henry, Mur Lafferty, Chris Lester, PG Holyfield and many others. A native of Kansas, she currently resides in New Jersey and refuses to confirm or deny rumors that she’s seen the first two Twilight movies at least 10 times each.
Tale Chasing is a blog for writers and readers of urban fantasy!
Urban fantasy is a subset of contemporary fantasy, consisting of magical novels and stories set in contemporary, real-world, urban settings–as opposed to ‘traditional’ fantasy set in wholly imaginary landscapes, even ones containing imaginary cities, or having most of their action take place in them. Urban fantasy may also refer to more modern versions of ‘traditional’ fantasy worlds. The modern urban fantasy protagonist faces extraordinary circumstances as plots unfold in either open (where magic or paranormal events are commonly accepted to exist) or closed (where magical powers or creatures are concealed) worlds.
I’ve created this blog to get some experience with Podcasting, share tips and tricks about writing, and to encourage writers to write as well as encourage myself to that end. I want to share the joys, pains, and resources that come my way! The podcast will have interviews with other urban fantasy authors, “critter comments” where listeners as well as I share work in progress and get feedback on their ideas, things I learn about the urban fantasy genre/writing techniques/podcasting for publication, and a recorded story written by me as I work on it.
So sit back, grab your favorite writing pen or keyboard, your fave music to write to, take some notes and leave some comments! I want you to participate as much as you want! I will always be looking for feedback and suggestions for what you want to hear about besides my ramblings about writing and urban fantasy!
Thanks and Enjoy!
